Early Intervention in South Carolina

During the first five years of a child’s life, Early Intervention services can have a great impact on their development. These services are based on a curriculum-based assessment by trained professionals. Those involved with the program work with the child’s everyday routines, as well as his family, to develop a customized plan for success.

What are three types of early intervention?

These services may include physical and occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, and assistive technology. They can also include family training sessions. These are conducted at the child’s home or in a daycare setting.

These services are provided by organizations that specialize in early intervention south carolina. There are several providers to choose from. Some of them are PASOs Connections for Child Development, Carolina Behavior & Beyond, and Bright Start.

The Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) is the legal document that describes the services a child and family will receive. It includes goals for the child, the number of training sessions required, the duration of the training, and other information. The document is also a helpful tool for parents to use when looking for resources.

An Early Interventionist (EI) is a professional who works with an eligible child and family through the DDSN (Department of Disabilities and Special Needs). These professionals are certified or licensed to provide services. The EI also provides service coordination. These professionals can help families address developmental delays in the child.

BabyNet is a system that coordinates early intervention services in South Carolina. These services are for infants under three years of age with developmental delays. The program is part of SCDHHS (SC Department of Health and Human Services).
