Protect Your Eyes With Blue Light Glasses

Blue light is a short wavelength on the electromagnetic spectrum that can help us see things clearly. It’s also known to disrupt our internal clock by making it difficult for the brain to produce melatonin, which can cause insomnia and other sleep disorders. The good news: While it may be difficult to avoid screens altogether, wearing a pair of blue light glasses can help minimize exposure and prevent symptoms like eye strain and headaches.

Blue light glasses are designed with either a surface coating or filters to block out blue light. They’re marketed to people who are concerned about the health effects of screen time, and some studies suggest that they can reduce eye strain. But, the truth is that a quality pair of regular computer glasses can be just as effective at protecting eyes and reducing uncomfortable symptoms.

Understanding the Benefits of Blue Light Glasses

If you are looking for a pair of blue-light glasses, consider whether they also have UV protection and how comfortable the fit is. It’s important to get a comfortable pair that won’t pinch the bridge of your nose or slide down your face. Make sure they are a good fit for you, and try them on to see how they feel.

It’s also important to remember that a lot of eye strain isn’t caused by blue light or the screens themselves, but rather by how we use them. For instance, if you are experiencing discomfort while working on a computer or tablet, try changing your posture, and reposition the screen so that it’s slightly downwards. You should also take frequent breaks, and try the 20-20-20 rule (for every 20 minutes spent on a screen, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds) to help give your eyes a break.
