What is Bitcoin?

Over the past 11 years, O que é btc? has disrupted the world of finance and created a new form of money that is both different from and more powerful than any other existing currency. It is now used as a medium of exchange, a store of value and a unit of account all over the world, and it exists exclusively digitally, with no physical version. While the identity of its creator is unknown, the principles behind it have had a significant impact on how people use and think about money today.

Bitcoin Adoption: Global Trends and Regional Variances

Bitcoin solves a fundamental problem of commerce on the internet by enabling financial transactions to occur directly between two parties, without the need for a third party like a bank or payment processor. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities for the future of our global economy.

Every transaction that occurs using Bitcoin is recorded on a public ledger called the blockchain, which is managed by a network of people voluntarily chosen to be part of it. These people process transactions on behalf of everyone in the Bitcoin network, verifying them through cryptography and recording them in the blockchain without a central authority.

When a person receives a Bitcoin, they are assigned a number called a wallet that can be thought of as equivalent to an email address, and is protected by a private key, similar to a password. The wallet can be stored online or in a device, and the private key allows only the owner of the wallet to access their bitcoin in a “virtual vault” once they are sent to it.
